I promise I don’t always design cheeky subversive crochet patterns. In fact, I created this ABCs Crochet Pillow pattern with the intent of decorating my daughter’s nursery. I wanted to give makers the option to try something new with bobble stitch letters… all of them in fact… while also having something they could gift for a baby shower, or use in their own homes.

The chart
The pattern is done in two parts, a front panel and a back panel. They are stitched separately and then crocheted together at the end, prior to stuffing the pillow.
You will be working the letters of the text backward with the bobble stitch, which means your first bobble will be the top corner of your “G”, and ending with your “A” in the first row of letters.
The chain 1 at the beginning of each row does not count as a stitch. When making the front panel, the bobble stitches are always made on the right side of your work. The row of single crochet is always the wrong side of your work. The single crochets on either side of your bobble stitches help make the stitch puff outward. The chain 1 at the beginning of each row does not count as a stitch. Back panel
Begin with a ch 75
Row 1: in the second ch from the hook, sc in every stitch across the row, ch 1, turn (74)
Rows 2-71: sc in every stitch across the row, ch 1, turn (74)
At the end of Row 71, do not tie off.
Joining the pieces
Using the last ch in your back panel, line up with the bottom corner of your front panel, and join the corner by stitching 4 stitches into the last stitch of your back panel and the corner stitch of your front panel.
You should then be working up the side of the pillow. Sc stitch in every row through both the front and back panel (71). In the corner, sc 4 times, then continue along every stitch along the top of the pillow (74). Sc 4 times in the corner, sc in every stitch along the other side of the pillow (71). Sc 4 times in corner, and stitch about 3/4 of the way down the final side of your pillow. Once 3/4 of the way stitched, stuff your pillow with Poly-Fil or stuffing of your choice.
Complete your stitching and once you get back to the corner you started in, tie off. Weave in any loose ends, and you’re done! Share your final project with me on social media!
